What you’ll do

Highly skilled, you’ll design, build, install, configure and maintain systems on Cloud or Hybrid environments, building functional platforms that improve the customer experience.  

This position involves collaborating with extended teams, implementing and improving CI/CD processes, providing technical support and sharing DevOps culture across the delivery teams and wider company. So, your problem-solving attitude and enthusiasm for communicating across both internal teams and externally with clients will ensure you enjoy both the technical and team working elements of this multi-faceted role. 

Day-to-day you’ll: 

  • Utilize Infrastructure As Code tools to create and maintain systems in cloud or hybrid environments

  • Develop scripts for automation processes

  • Monitor systems, network and application availability

  • Write documentation for processes and tools

Requirements

You’ll be technically proficient, with at least 3 years of proven experience managing IT projects plus a BSC in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field.  

In terms of technologies and programmes, you’ll have a good knowledge of: 

  • Microsoft Azure, AWS, GCP or other Cloud platforms 

  • Docker and Kubernetes or similar container orchestration systems  

  • Windows Server OS and/or Linux administration

  • CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps pipelines, AWS CodePipelines, TeamCity, Jenkins or Octopus) 

  • On-prem virtualisation such as VMWare or Citrix

Experience with Monitoring using Prometheus, Graphana and the ELK stack, plus strong scripting skills using Windows PowerShell or other scripting languages (Bash/Perl/Groovy) is also important. 

Additional desirable skills include: 

  • Good exposure to Database Management Systems (MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis)

  • Storage knowledge (SAN, RAID, LVM) 

  • Experience with one of the following technologies: GIT, Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps

Advantageous, although not mandatory, would be experience and/or knowledge of: 

  • Non-cloud networking: Routers, Load Balancers, TCP/IP stack, HTTP/HTTPS/WebSocket, VPN tunnels, routing protocols OSPF/BGP

  • Orchestration tools & containerized applications

  • Infrastructure as Code languages (HashiCorp Terraform, AWS SAM, Azure ARM Templates)  

  • Tools such as HashiCorp Consul, HashiCorp Vault, HashiCorp Nomad, Ansible, Puppet, Chef 

  • DNS, CDN (Cloudflare) 

  • API Gateways (Kong) and WAF  

  • Systems monitoring, alerting and analytics tools such as Zabbix, SolarWinds, Azure Monitor  

Advanced written and spoken English communication skills are a must.
